TEACH FOR BULGARIA CLASS OF 2015-2017 JOINED THE ALUMNI COMMUNITY
Teach For Bulgaria’s fifth class of participants formally completed the professional development and leadership program. Forty-four participants successfully completed two challenging years as teachers in 8 regions of Bulgaria where they worked towards strengthening their students’ motivation, improving their results, and providing them with more development opportunities. Thus the program’s alumni community grew to 163 people. The class of 2015-2017 had the opportunity to share all lessons learned, to congratulate each other on their accomplishments, and to map out future plans in the education sector at a special event on July 1, 2017. The CEO of Teach For Bulgaria, Evgenia Peeva-Kirova, delivered an emotional speech at the beginning of the event with a powerful message about the importance of reflecting on this past experience and the responsibility of joining the alumni community. Here is a quote from her speech: “Great accomplishments give us the opportunity to set even higher expectations for the future. You know that everyone who has successfully completed the two-year program remains engaged with our mission in the long term. Not just because they believe in our common goals, but in order to build upon all efforts, energy, and time invested by each and every one of you during the last two years. Your experience, expertise, and ideas will prove more and more valuable to more and more students and active ‘agents of change’ in our education system and society!”
As a sign of continuity Teach For Bulgaria alumni from various classes presented each new alumnus and alumna with their certificate of completion.
“Completing the program is actually a new beginning because our work towards accomplishing our mission continues,” Tihomir Aleksiev, class of 2012-2014, stated in his speech.
A special address to the new alumni was also made by Daniela Ivanova, Principal of 202 Primary School in Dolni Pasarel and Teach For Bulgaria alumna, and Ivanka Tsankova, Director of Impact Assessment and Evaluation at the America for Bulgaria Foundation (Teach For Bulgaria is initiated and generously supported by the America for Bulgaria Foundation).
We believe that we will have the opportunity to share many success stories involving Teach For Bulgaria’s class of 2015-2017 and their personal contribution to providing more children with high quality education in Bulgaria.
