BUSINESS LEADERS AND CELEBRITIES UNITED BY THE CAUSE OF EQUAL ACCESS TO QUALITY EDUCATION
NINETEEN FAMOUS PEOPLE AND 40 COMPANIES RAISED ALMOST 100 000 BGN TO SUPPORT TFB’S TEACHERS DURING THE FIFTH CHARITY AUCTION OF CELEBRITIES

For the fifth consecutive year, business representatives and famous people from Bulgaria became united by the mission of granting every child equal access to quality education during the Stars’ Charity Auction on 17th November 2016 at Hilton Hotel. This untypical event was organized by Teach for Bulgaria Foundation and the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum (BBLF). This year participated nineteen celebrities and representatives of 40 companies from various sectors.
All of them raised more than 100 000 lev for the training, development and support of the TFB’s teachers.
During the auction, the guests had the opportunity to bid for two hours of the time of popular people they loved and respected, representing Bulgarian culture, sports, media and other fields. Being supporters of Teach for Bulgaria’s mission, the celebrities will donate their time by hosting corporate events, team building activities, etc.
“The years we spend at school are most important for shaping us as human beings. That is why teachers need to be dedicated and motivated. This is the only way to make children interested,” said the loyal supporter of Teach for Bulgaria, Nencho Balabanov, who was hosting the auction together with Raffi Boghossian.



The event was also attended by the actresses Silviya Loulcheva and Militsa Gladnishka, the Olympian champion Mariya Grozdeva, the young comedians from HaHaHa Impro Theater, the musicians Hilda Kazasyan, Orlin Pavlov, Hari Eshkenazi, Ersin Moustafov, the vocal of Jeremy? Rock group, the singers Maggie Dzhanavarova and Nora Karaivanova, performers from Derida Dance Center, Gerry Touriyska, the charming founder of Mailbox for Tales, the entrepreneurs Leona Aslanova, Tsvetan Lazhanski and Cyril Petkov, the writer Katerina Hapsali, the polar explorer prof. Hristo Pimpirev and Mrs Irit Lilian, Ambassador of Israel.
“All that we have achieved we owe to our partners. We are learning from them every day. The most impressive tales of success of our teachers and students come from our work with many partners for a common vision and direction,” said Evgenia Peeva-Kirova, the CEO of Teach for Bulgaria Foundation.
“What gathered us again this year is the cause of quality education for all children. We believe that in today’s economy the ideas of developing the great potential of young people is a success factor more than ever. Investing in them is investing in Bulgaria’s future. We hope that together we will contribute to Bulgaria having educated, talented, knowledgeable and capable young people,” commented Iravan Hira, the chairperson of BBLF.
The charity auction of the celebrities in 2016 was also generously supported by Hilton Hotel, Kinstellar, Vinex Preslav, JTI, Astra Zeneca and SEG. Teach for Bulgaria was founded on the initiative and with the financial support of America for Bulgaria Foundation, and it is part of Teach for All global network for equal access to quality education.
