EMILIYAN KADIYSKI – ALUMNUS OF TEACH FOR BULGARIA PROGRAM IS AMONG FORBES’ SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS 30 UNDER 30
Emiliyan Kadiyski, a teacher from the first cohort of graduates under the Teach for Bulgaria Program (2011-2013) and his partners at Vratsa Software Society, Ilian Dimov and Teodor Kostadinov, are among the social entrepreneurs listed in the prestigious annual ranking 30 under 30 of the business magazine Forbes for 2017.
In the selection of Forbes for Europe, which has been made for the second consecutive year, Emiliyan and his partners are among another 300 young leaders of the old continent divided into ten categories. They have been chosen by the Forbes reporters among more than a thousand online nominations from all around Europe. They have been shortlisted by a jury of accomplished professionals for each category.
Emiliyan Kadiyski is 29 years old. He is now teaching Information Studies and Programming at N.Y. Vaptsarov Vocational High School in the town of Vratsa. As early as his second year of participation in Teach for Bulgaria Program, he set up the Vratsa Software Society together with Ilian Dimov and Teodor Kostadinov. The organization offers programming courses through which Emiliyan hopes to raise interest in this profession in as many young people as possible in one of the poorest towns in Bulgaria and to create more long-term opportunities for development in the region. In 2014, Vratsa Software won the competition for social entrepreneurs Reach for Changе. In 2016, the organization won the first place in the category of Education for 2016 of the Bulgarian Association of Information Technologies awards and additional funding by Google RISE Awards. At the end of the previous year, Emiliyan was nominated by the Ministry of Education and Science for the Global Teacher’s Award.
The Bulgarian edition of Forbes featured Emiliyan in the 30 under 30 list as early as 2014. Apart from him, throughout the years, the Forbes Bulgaria in their 30 under 30 have also selected Evgenia Peeva-Kirova, Executive Director of Teach for Bulgaria (2013) and teachers who have completed the program: Teodora Zareva (2014), Ivelina Pashova (2015), Ivan Gospodinov (2016) and Daniela Ivanova (2016).
