Evgenia Peeva-Kirova is Deputy Minister of Education in the New Caretaker Government
Evgenia Peeva-Kirova, founder and CEO of Teach For Bulgaria until 2019, is one of the new deputy ministers in the new caretaker office of the Ministry of Education and Science.
Evgenia is an exceptional professional and colleague who is committed to providing every student with equal access to quality education, believes in the potential of all people who have dedicated their careers to education, and is capable of developing their potential.

Evgenia is the founder of Teach For Bulgaria. She was the first CEO of the organization from 2010 to 2019. Prior to that she worked as a business consultant at the international organization McKinsey & Company where she consulted leading businesses and organizations in different sectors – from technology and pharmacy to industrial electronics and non-profit organizations. Teach For Bulgaria was a wonderful opportunity for her to contribute to Bulgaria’s sustainable development by working towards the long-term improvement of our national education system.
As a university student Evgenia founded Step for Bulgaria Foundation which provides life skills training and career orientation to children without parental care. Her efforts secured funding and voluntary labor for the services provided by Step for Bulgaria during the first four years of the organization. Since 2007 Step for Bulgaria Foundation has provided training to over 150 children without parental care thanks to over 80 volunteers from around the world.
Evgenia received Eureka Foundation’s Young Manager of the Year Award in 2018 which made her the first CEO of a non-governmental organization to receive this recognition. Evgenia Peeva-Kirova was also Woman of the Year for 2012 for her social contribution. Her work has been recognized in other prestigious rankings as well including Forbes Bulgaria 30 under 30 in 2013, Darik Radio’s 40 under 40 in 2014 and others.
Evgenia Peeva-Kirova graduated from Harvard with a degree in economics, political studies, and sociology. Her thesis explores the factors leading to successful reforms in university education in Central and Eastern Europe after 1989. She also has a master’s degree in education management from Plovdiv University.
