Kristina Nikolova has been a Senior Specialist in School Team Training at Teach for Bulgaria since 2020. She believes that professional development takes place once you leave your comfort zone, and that it goes hand in hand with personal growth and horizon broadening, active research of new ideas and opportunities. In this context, she seeks to apply different approaches and training formats for teachers to inspire, provoke and support them in improving their pedagogical practice and personal development.
Kristina has been working hard to achieve the vision and mission of Teach for Bulgaria since 2013, when she joined the third batch of teachers under A New Way to Teaching Program and worked for two years as an English teacher at Hristo Smirnenski School, Zhitnitsa Village, Plovdiv Region.
As an expert in School Team Training, Kristina was one of the authors of the Model Schools Program and a trainer, responsible for planning, organizing and holding the trainings of some of the school teams, as well as for some of the pedagogical courses for teachers in the program. For Kristina, Model Schools was a great opportunity to implement a multi-layered, holistic approach to building school capacity for sustainable professional development of teachers, which is why she was pleased to be a part of it.
Kristina is a lawyer but she has been working in the education system since 2013. In 2015, supported by like-minded people, she set up the NIKE Academy and has been ardently involved in the professional training of pedagogical specialists since then. In 2016-2017, Kristina actively participated in the creation of the Municipal Education Development Strategy for the 2017-2020 period.
The latest initiatives she worked on as a lawyer and education expert, were related to analyses and studies of the Bulgarian education system for the World Bank.
