Maria Yordanova
Maria is the Teacher Support Coordinator during their second year in Teach for Bulgaria’s A New Way to Teaching Program. In this role, she is trying to inspire program teachers for new feats to change the education system, so that every child can receive quality education. She has been at this position since 2019, and before that she was a participant in the program and a history teacher in Sofia for two years. In the summer of 2019 she was also a Deputy Principal of Teach for Bulgaria’s Summer Academy for Students.
She graduated in Cultural Studies from South-West University Neofit Rilski in Blagoevgrad. This is where her curiosity toward ancient cultures and civilizations arose. It provoked her to take a master’s degree in History with a pedagogical profile too. Maria shares that the love of history was born when she was IX grade. It was inspired by her teacher, and she decided to continue her legacy by becoming a teacher through Teach for Bulgaria in 2017 herself. As a teacher, Maria was working hard for History not to be a “boring subject” but an experience that will never be forgotten.
