Popular Actors Perform Fitness Challenges in Support of Bulgarian Education

120 km by bike, a 5K run with a dog, rollerblading, various workouts, and mountain climbing – these are some of the challenges chosen by Bulgarian celebrities who are going to participate in Teach For Bulgaria’s charity event “Challenge for a Cause”

Actors Alek Aleksiev, Daria Simeonova, Georgi Zlatarev, Valentina Karoleva, Yana Titova, and Niki Iliev are just some of the celebrities who are going to challenge themselves for a worthy cause this spring. They are ambassadors for Teach For Bulgaria’s unconventional fundraiser “Challenge for a Cause” – a sports event which will take place on May 30 in different locations of Bulgaria and around the world.
The goal is to bring thousands of people who believe in the power of education together and challenge them to accomplish a personal fitness goal. The fundraiser is organized by Teach For Bulgaria and was inspired by the experience of different supporters who have accomplished similar personal fitness challenges throughout the years by also adding a fundraising element to them – marathons, cycling trips across Europe, etc. The organizations which have kindly endorsed and generously supported this event are Nexo, Garitage Park, Garitage Sports Center, Levski Sofia Sports Hall, Kindergarten “Veseloto Gardzhe”, CrossFit Vitosha, and BRUM Scooters.
Anyone is more than welcome to participate in “Challenge for a Cause”, regardless of age or fitness level. All it takes is a short registration which includes a small donation in support of Teach For Bulgaria’s work.
The registration form allows you to choose a category – walking, running, swimming, cycling, rock climbing, or something else. Then all you have to do is complete your challenge by or on May 30.
How are the actors going to challenge themselves?
The famous Bulgarian actors who chose to support the event by becoming “Challenge for a Cause” ambassadors have selected a variety of fitness activities in order to challenge themselves. Georgi Zlatarev and Alek Aleksiev, for example, are cycling enthusiasts. Georgi has pledged to bike from Sofia to Shipka peak on May 30 and Alek has pledged to bike 120 km to a mysterious destination.
“I became a “Challenge for a Cause” ambassador because I believe that it is a wonderful way to improve your fitness level while helping others. Education is the most important thing for children! After physical and mental health, of course. Nothing is more important for our country than to have open-minded, intelligent, knowledgeable, and capable people,” Georgi Zlatarev comments on his commitment to cycle over 220 km in one day in support of Teach For Bulgaria.
Actress Valentina Karoleva has chosen a series of circuit workouts as her fitness challenge and Yana Titova plans to do 108 sun salutations. Both of them are already making significant progress and posting their workouts and yoga sessions on instagram. Daria Simeonova is going to run just like actor and film director Niki Iliev whose goal is to run a 5K with his dog.
Some of our ambassadors are professional athletes!
Some of Bulgaria’s most famous athletes are also going to support our initiative – snowboarder Aleksandra Zhekova is going to climb a mountain peak in Pirin, while ultrarunner Krasi Georgiev is planning to work on his rollerblading skills. Gymnast Yordan Yovchev, former volleyball player Lyubo Ganev, boxer Kubrat Pulev, yoga instructor Nina Sotirova, fitness instructor Ines Subashka, and surfers Maria Kinkina and Iliyana Stoilova are also going to support Teach For Bulgaria by participating in the event. BTV sports reporter Dimitar Tasev is going to challenge his coworkers from the sports newsroom with some track workouts. BTV is our media partner for this fundraiser and so are maikomila.bg, Obekti, Manager News, noviteroditeli.bg, podmosta.bg, sCool media, and the NGO portal.
