Schools from the regions of Varna, Burgas, Sliven, Ruse, Silistra, Targovishte, Shumen, and Dobrich can apply for participants in Teach For Bulgaria’s program for the first time

Teach For Bulgaria is looking for new partner schools in 20 regions of the country by April 22.

All principals who would like to work with participants in our leadership and professional development program should submit their teaching vacancies in a special online form on Teach For Bulgaria’s website.

Fill out your online form to request a teacher from our program

By choosing to work with Teach For Bulgaria teachers principals have the opportunity to strengthen their teams with rigorously selected professionals who are highly motivated to work with every child.

Teach For Bulgaria has been working towards providing every child in Bulgaria with equal access to quality education and opportunities for development regardless of their background and socio-economic status for 10 years now. The organization recruits, trains, and develops competent and motivated professionals with diverse backgrounds who are committed to work long-term towards positive change in education in Bulgaria.

Denitsa Petrishka, Institutional Partnerships Senior Specialist

“We are currently focusing on the training and support of math, IT, science, English, and primary school teachers. When filling out the form, principals can include the vacant positions they have at the moment and those that will potentially be vacant by the end of the school year or at a later stage. Our experience has shown that when two or more Teach For Bulgaria teachers have the option to work at the same school, not only is their student impact amplified, but our participants are more motivated to pick a school with more vacant positions, so they can work together,” Denitsa Petrishka, Institutional Partnerships Senior Specialist, shares.

NEW REGIONS

Schools from the regions of Varna, Burgas, Sliven, Ruse, Silistra, Targovishte, Shumen, and Dobrich can apply for participants in Teach For Bulgaria’s program for the first time. Several participants from these regions have already started their preliminary training in the program. Principals from the regions where we already have partner schools can also submit vacant teaching positions. We currently work with schools in the regions of Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Pleven, Lovech, Razgrad, Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Montana, Stara Zagora, Pernik, Sofia Province, and Sofia City.

PARTNER SCHOOLS

Teach For Bulgaria works with municipal and state schools (specialized and non-specialized) serving underperforming students with low motivation and at risk of dropping out. At the same time the management of these schools is motivated by these challenges and is open to explore different potential solutions in the name of every student’s success and well-being. We are looking for partner schools working towards positive change in Bulgarian education, willing to support young motivated colleagues and to implement innovative practices.

TEACHERS

Three of the new participants in our program, class of 2020-2022

The participants in our program have been rigorously selected among thousands of applicants which guarantees that they have the right skills and mindsets to work hard and effectively at school. We had a record number of applicants this year – over 2800 people applied with the ambition to join the program. The selected applicants are ready to work at schools serving underperforming students from vulnerable communities located in smaller towns and villages or distant city neighborhoods. Students in these schools are often unmotivated, lag behind their peers from more privileged backgrounds, and are at risk of dropping out.

Many of the new participants in our program have already started their preliminary training and will go through an intense Summer Institute in July and August. The Summer Institute has theoretical and practical modules including actual teaching during Teach For Bulgaria’s 3-week Summer Academy. The new teachers are going to be mentored by experienced professionals, they will have access to various opportunities for professional development and ongoing training sessions based on their needs in the classroom. Teach For Bulgaria’s trainings are in compliance with all relevant state standards of education. Any participants in our program who have not attained a teaching certification prior to joining Teach For Bulgaria or who are not in the process of attaining one are enrolled in university programs at Teach For Bulgaria’s partner universities.

You can find interviews with principals of our partner schools here.
