TEACH FOR BULGARIA RECEIVED 160 TEACHING VACANCIES AFTER THE FIRST DEADLINE OF THE CAMPAIGN FOR PARTNER SCHOOLS

OVER ONE HUNDRED CANDIDATES APPLYING FOR THE LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM HAVE SUCCESSFULLY GONE THROUGH THE SELECTION PROCESS

Teach For Bulgaria received 160 teaching vacancies from over 70 schools in 11 regions in the country after the first deadline of the campaign for partner schools. Over 30 of these schools are current Teach For Bulgaria partners where program participants have been teaching this school year. Over 20 new schools have submitted vacancies motivated by the opportunity to work with teachers who are part of Teach For Bulgaria’s leadership and professional development program.
The majority of the vacancies are for English, mathematics, and primary school teachers. Most vacancies come from schools in Sofia City and Sofia Province, Plovdiv, Vratsa, Pleven, and Stara Zagora.
The first two groups of new participants had the opportunity to see the submitted vacancies on April 20. Their documents are going to be sent to the preferred schools in the beginning of May. In less than a month, after the end of the selection process for new participants, schools will have another opportunity to submit teaching vacancies.
The selection process for the new Teach For Bulgaria participants who start teaching in September continues. Teach For Bulgaria received over 1800 applications and so far over 100 candidates have successfully completed all three stages of the selection process. The total number of successful candidates from the class of 2018-2020 will be clear by mid May. Most applications have been submitted by candidates in Sofia City, Plovdiv, Veliko Tarnovo, and Stara Zagora.
Starting in September of 2018 the new participants are going to teach for two years at partner schools of the organization located in the following regions – Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Lovech, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pernik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Sofia City, Sofia Province, and Stara Zagora. With the help of the intensive summer training and ongoing trainings during the two years at school, the participants develop skills applicable not only directly in the classroom, but also in their future career pursuits in education. Teach For Bulgaria alumni have been successful and continue to pursue the following career paths: school leadership, social entrepreneurship, and education policy.
