This September two Bulgarians with the same first name are going to challenge themselves to grueling bike rides spanning several thousand kilometers in the name of one cause<\/em><\/h3>\n

In the beginning of September 2019, starting from two European capitals (London and Reykjavik), two Bulgarians with the name of Yavor are going to hop on their bikes, not to get to work, but to challenge themselves for a cause<\/a> and to support Teach For Bulgaria\u2019s mission.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yavor Atanasov<\/strong><\/a> and Yavor Danailov<\/strong> are about to embark on this exciting adventure which is going to test their strength as they raise funds in support of Teach For Bulgaria\u2019s work and children\u2019s equal access to quality education. Unwavering motivation and initial preparation are their weapons of choice when it comes to cycling around Iceland and across Europe<\/strong>, but their ultimate success lies in the hands of those who choose to support them. You probably remember Yavor\u2019s adventures from 2017<\/a> when he successfully accomplished one of the very first fundraising challenges in support of Teach For Bulgaria – an inspiring solo bike ride from London to Barcelona. Yavor has supported our work in a variety of ways throughout the years: he has been mentoring students, participated in events, provided valuable contacts and ideas, but now, two years later, he is about to do another epic fundraising bike ride. This time his bike will take him on an extreme tour around windswept Iceland<\/strong> and the focus of his fundraising campaign will be our project for developing educational resources<\/a> for additional language training of students whose mother tongue is not Bulgarian.<\/p>\n

\u201cIceland is tantalisingly close to the edge of my abilities, but it tickles my stubbornness, it\u2019s breathtaking and I have a couple of dear friends there whom I\u2019ve not seen in a while,\u201d Yavor shares some of the reasons why he chose Iceland.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He jokingly says that his skills have been honed by the treacherous London streets, cycling to and from work. The fact that he decided to dedicate this trip to Teach For Bulgaria\u2019s mission is a logical next step in his long-term support for our organization.<\/p>\n

Yavor Danailov is the second Yavor we\u2019re more than happy to welcome into our community of supporters who challenge themselves for a cause. He was inspired by Yavor Atanasov\u2019s story at BG Career Fair in London last year. Some of our colleagues and Yavor Atanasov were at the job fair to share more information about how anyone could support Teach For Bulgaria\u2019s mission by pursuing similar personal challenges<\/a>.<\/p>\n

About a year later Yavor Danailov decided to bike over 3000 km to his hometown of Sevlievo and to dedicate his first solo long-distance bike trip to Teach For Bulgaria.<\/p>\n

\u201cQuality education completely changes your perspective. I left my hometown of Sevlievo in 2008 in the pursuit of this new perspective. Quality education revealed a truly exciting life journey full of opportunities to me – university education in Ohio, USA, a job in the financial sector in NYC and a successful career as a lawyer in London. I realize that many children who grow up in poor communities in Bulgaria never get a chance to go on this inspiring journey only education could provide. This injustice and my passion for bike riding inspired me to embark on this deeply personal journey back home,\u201d Yavor shares more about his motivation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
