Teach For Bulgaria is one of the 14 organizations elected as members of the Council for Civil Society Development – an advisory body to the Council of Ministers. The final election results were announced at the end of the previous week on a special digital platform<\/a> (link in Bulgarian). Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev is the 15th member and chairman of the council. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE ROLE OF THE COUNCIL<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The council is an advisory body to the Council of Ministers and its function involves the development and implementation of policies supporting civil society in Bulgaria. The council will coordinate the implementation of the national civil society development strategy. It will also propose a plan on how to accomplish the strategic goals to the government, collect information about public funding of civic organizations, and issue statements about all civic organizations legal act drafts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

TEACH FOR BULGARIA ELECTED AS A MEMBER<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Teach For Bulgaria was elected as a member of the council with 83 votes. A total of 286 organizations voted. They had the opportunity to vote for 14 organizations out of 123 registered candidates. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The elected members of the Council are Teach For Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Center for Not-for-Profit Law (BCNL), Bulgarian Donors Forum, Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation, Maria\u2019s World Foundation, Bulgarian Fund for Women, AEJ-Bulgaria, Bulgarian Red Cross, Bulgarian Helsinki Committee, For Our Children Foundation, the Association of Parks in Bulgaria, Bulgarian Association for Alternative Tourism, Parents Association, and Karin Dom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every member\u2019s mandate is 3 years from the date of the resolution issued by the Council of Ministers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
