In his work Yavor strives not only to teach his ESL curriculum but also to help his students develop a variety of skills such as: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Writing;<\/li><li>Reading;<\/li><li>Critical thinking;<\/li><li>Media literacy;<\/li><li>Entrepreneurship;<\/li><li>Teamwork;<\/li><li>Social-emotional skills. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yavor\u2019s school newspaper summer project meets these particular needs. She realized that one of the most important factors for her students\u2019 success is the support they receive from their families. Her summer project aims to help families of students who are at risk of dropping out.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ganka\u2019s goal is to raise awareness about the consequences of dropping out among Roma families. Her summer school for parents includes individual meetings and several 100-minute group sessions with parents, teachers, partners, role-models from the community, and different stakeholders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Timeline: June &#8211; September 2020<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Evelina, Gospodinka, Petya, Valentin, and Yani\u2019s Summer School for 21st Century Skills <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Teachers at First Primary School \u201cGeorgi Bakalov\u201d in Stara Zagora<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/zaednovchas.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/uchiteli-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30201\" width=\"512\" height=\"288\" srcset=\"https:\/\/zaednovchas.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/uchiteli-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/zaednovchas.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/uchiteli-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/zaednovchas.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/uchiteli-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/zaednovchas.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/uchiteli-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/zaednovchas.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/uchiteli-600x338.png 600w, https:\/\/zaednovchas.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/uchiteli.png 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><figcaption> A photo from last year\u2019s edition of the summer school for 21st century skills <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why a summer school for 21st century skills?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Around the same time last year the 5 teachers from First Primary School \u201cGeorgi Bakalov\u201d in Stara Zagora realized that they weren\u2019t able to dedicate enough time to building their students\u2019 21st century skills in the classroom.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They decided to organize a two-week summer school to focus on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Creative thinking;<\/li><li>Teamwork;<\/li><li>Emotional Intelligence;<\/li><li>Reading literacy.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 3 key elements of the summer school are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>All activities take place outside in the open in the villages of Zmeyovo and Hrishcheni where most of the students live;<\/li><li>The teachers use the method of gamification;&nbsp;<\/li><li>All parents are included in the planning, organization, and execution of the summer school activities.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each of the 5 teachers plans a full day of activities dedicated to one of the 4 skills. The fifth day is dedicated to the community spirit so parents, students, and teachers enjoy a nice picnic with homemade food while playing team building games together.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Timeline: July 1-12, 2019<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We wanted to share some prevacation inspiration from Teach For Bulgaria\u2019s community.
