Against this backdrop, environmental education is under-represented in standard curricula and many young people say they do not feel prepared for the challenges climate change will present for the rest of their lives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The United Nations recognizes the theme of combating climate change as one of the seventeen global sustainable development goals for 2030 and includes a sub-goal to &#8220;improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation and adaptation, impact reduction and early warning.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The education website prepodavame.bg, supported by Visa, creates 4 weekly quizzes on the topic of climate change. Starting in the second half of October, students from grades 5 to 12 will be able to take part and build on their knowledge of the topic and receive prizes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The quizzes are part of a more comprehensive project to develop environmental education in Bulgaria, which includes more:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Student challenges to generate ideas for solving local environmental problems;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a teachers&#8217; competition for good practice in project-based eco-education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a teachers&#8217; competition for good practice in project-based learning with an eco focus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Climate education is one way to challenge students to see interconnections between different sciences, to exercise their critical thinking and creativity, as climate challenges still have no single solution.
